About me

I am a Minnesota-born-and-raised writer and teacher, happiest when I am outside, sifting my fingers through the soil in my gardens or hiking trails in my neighborhood or the woods.

I earned an M.A. in English from the University of St. Thomas and an MFA in Poetry from the Warren Wilson Program for Writers.

I have published, so far, two chapbooks of poems, two full-length collections of poems, and one memoir (forthcoming). In addition, I have published poems, stories, and essays in journals including Shenandoah, St. Katherine Review, Cortland Review, Blue Mountain Review, Briar Cliff Review, Bloom, North Dakota Review, Weave, The Phoenix, Potomac Review, Poetry East, Minnesota Monthly, and other places.

I have been teaching college English since 1996, at a variety of schools, but I have been happily settled at Anoka-Ramsey Community College since 2004.

I am available for events such as book group discussions, presentations, readings, or manuscript consultations.
